I Had A Dream
"Look, a hotel sign!" cried Bryan, pointing to a half-lit sign. It read ‘De Truth Hotel’.
The four lads turned off the road into the hotel area. It was a spooky-looking hotel, but that didn’t faze the lads, they were lost in some remote Irish village, and it was getting late. There was no way of getting to Dublin by tonight.
The lads parked the car and got out, grabbing a bag.
"Lets hope that they’ve got rooms!" said Kian, yawning.
As they walked towards the house, they saw a curtain move, as they got to the door, and rang the bell. Seconds later, the door creaked open.
"I must get that darn door fixed," the man said, noticing the lads, "Looking for a room are you?"
"Yeah, we are." said Bryan.
"Well I’m Ronald Keats, come in, and I’ll see what I have available!" he said, ushering the lads in.
He showed the lads into the reception area, and then went behind the desk to check the book.
"Ah, I have 2 rooms left. T’ey have twin beds in t’em!"
"We’ll take them, how much will it be for a night?" asked Shane.
"Ah, let me see, since you 4 look familiar, uh its t’irty t’ree pounds for all of you!" said Ronald, getting the keys.
"T’anks" said Shane, taking the keys.
"Okay, who’s sharing with who?," said Shane.
"I don’t mind sharing with Bryan, if you’ll share with Nicky," said Kian, taking the other key.
"That’s alright with me! Nicky, is that ok?" said Shane.
"Sure, no problem" Nicky said, grabbing his bag.
As they went to the room, they all had showers separately and got into bed. They all seem to fall asleep almost instantly.
It was Nicky who had the dream first, he dreamt that him, Shane, Kian and Bryan were on this boat, he could also see Georgina, Kerry, Gillian and Laura with them. Suddenly the boat seemed to hit something, and it soon was sinking. Nicky only saw Shane, and suddenly grabbed him into a lifeboat first, as the boat sunk, taking most of the people on board with it. Nicky woke up in a fright. God he thought, he just saved Shane over Georgina, Shane the fellow band member, over his long term girlfriend, that was so weird.
As he lay there trying to get back to sleep, he heard Shane mumbling something.
Shane woke up shaking. That was the strangest dream ever, yet so vivid! He was on a boat with Kian, Bryan and Nicky. He could see the respective girlfriends sitting there with their man.
Soon there was a explosion causing the boat to start sinking. Without thinking, Shane grabbed Nicky, pulling him into a life-raft. They got away from the boat to see it sinking, that’s when he woke up, he couldn’t believe that he chose Nicky over Gillian, its seemed all too strange, as he turned over, he saw Nicky, he was awake too.
"Hey Shane, you seem a little shaken" said Nicky.
"Nicky, I am, you wouldn’t believe the dream I just had?" said Shane.
"Did it have a boat in it, your with your girlfriend, and then boat sinks, causing you to save one of the lads over your girlfriends" asked Nicky.
"uh, yeah, how do you know?" Shane said, puzzled.
"I just had that dream too." Nicky replied.
"Who did you saved instead of Georgie?" asked Shane.
"It was you Shane! Did you save me in your dream Shane?" revealed Nicky.
"Yeah, I did, how did you know?" Shane asked, shocked.
"I don’t know, it just came to me. If I saved you in my dream, then you would have saved me if we were in the same situation." Nicky said, sitting up.
"Nicky, I would too! I couldn’t let you go!" said Shane, shaking at his confession.
"Shane, are you saying that you ‘re in love with me?" asked Nicky.
"I guess I am. I’ve been in love with you since the start. When I saw you at the audition, all I could think was Wow!" Shane said.
"Shane, I’ve kind of felt that I was more than just one of your friends to you. The way you treated me, the way you listened to my worries! How you helped me through my problems that I couldn’t face asking Ronan about. You were there for me, and I don’t know how to say this but I think I’m in love with you too."
"Nicky, I don’t know what to say oh god, we’ve got a busy day ahead of us tomorrow, so we should get some sleep." Shane said, facing Nicky.
"Yeah, true, though I wonder if Ki and Bry had the same-type of dream as us!" Nicky said, giggling.
"Yeah, I wonder." said Shane yawning.
Soon both Shane and Nicky were fast asleep!
It was Kian who dreamt the dream next, unaware that Shane and Nicky had had the dream as well. He could see himself sitting on a chair on a boat, he was with Laura, and Shane was there with Gillian, Nicky with Georgina, and Bryan was with Kerry. They all seem to be enjoying themselves until they were hit from below by an object, probably a missile, but Kian didn’t want to stay on board, he grab Bryan and they both jumped off the side, into the water, and luckily there was a life-raft, which Kian got into and pull Bryan into&ldots;then in a matter of seconds the boat had sunk.
Kian woke in a sweat, that had to be the weirdest dream, why out of all the people on the boat had he grabbed Bryan over Laura. He lay there thinking it over, when he saw Bryan tossing and turning.
Bryan couldn’t believe what he had just dreamt, it was so clear and it seem like it was real. He had been on a boat with Kian, Shane and Nicky. Their girlfriends were there too, though Mark wasn’t there, which seemed odd to him. It seemed that they were all enjoying themselves, when there was a loud boom, and it seemed that something had exploded, causing everyone to panic. He could see himself grabbing Kian, and getting into one of the life rafts, he couldn’t see Nicky and Shane, though all the girlfriends had seemed to vanish, he knew that Shane would be with Nicky, and that they’d be safe somewhere. While sitting in the lifeboat watching the boat sinking, as it sunk, he could vaguely make out a life-raft a few miles away. As they paddled closer, it seemed certain that the two in the boat were Shane and Nicky. What had woken him up was the fact that he was kissing Kian, which was so weird, yet in the dream it felt so right, and him seeing Shane and Nicky kissing too, seemed normal.
"Bryan, are you awake?" asked Kian.
"yeah, I am." Bryan replied, turning to face Kian.
"I just had a dream that was so weird." Said Kian.
"me too, it seemed so real, there was this explosion, and I ended up saving you, and Shane and Nicky had saved each other and I dreamt that those two were gay and we were too." said Bryan.
"Bry, I know, I felt that way too. I don’t know why we dreamt that, maybe the other two dreamt it as well. We’ll ask them tomorrow." Said Kian, yawning.
The next morning, all the lads woke up, got dressed and went down to the dining room, they expected to see Ronald Keats, but serving breakfast was a youngish woman.
"Good Mornin’, you must be the late arrivals that arrived last night." said the woman.
"Yep."said Shane, looking at the woman, he suddenly remembered that she was in the dream, smiling away along with Ronald on the banks of the river.
"Sleep well? Usually people have said that they’ve had very revealing dreams when they stay here." Said Gretchen, as she walked away with their order.
Shane spoke first "Bryan, Kian, did you guys by any chance have a dream about a boat last night?"
"Um yeah?, don’t tell me you guys had it too. that was one weird dream, did you two save each other?" said Bryan.
"Yep, it was all too strange." said Nicky, reading the paper. Then Nicky saw it, in the paper was an article about a boat sinking a few days, and there were only 4 survivors, and they seemed to be all male on two different life-rafts.
That seemed too unreal for Nicky, he and the lads quickly finished up their breakfast, grabbed their stuff and were soon on the road to Dublin. As they left the town, they all feel a shiver as they went past the sign of the village.
As they looked back to where the village was, they couldn’t see it anymore, all they could see was lots of trees and overgrown grass. Nicky glanced at the paper. Its date was October 17, 1925.
Had they gone back in time, last night, were they the ones in that boat accident, who knows??
Nicky put the paper aside, and looked out the window, he could see Dublin coming into view.
