"Can I have a word in private?" Georgina said, to me as I was working the day shift, the next day.
"Sure, will this do?" I said, as I showed her an empty table far away from anyone.
"I don’t know if you know who I am, but I’m Nicky’s girlfriend,"
"I know who you are, I’m not that blind,"
"Look, Nicky been very weird lately, and I saw you guys last night in the pool&ldots;"
"I was there way before Nicky, I hadn’t arranged Nicky to come and meet me! I swear!"
"I confronted Nicky about it, and he wouldn’t tell me anything"
"Nothing happened, I had just come off a busy nightshift, and needed cooling down&ldots;Nicky turning up, totally was a shock&ldots;"
"You’ve noticed that me and Nicky aren’t exactly close anymore, and seeing him with you last night confirmed my suspicions, that I was standing in the way of what looked like the perfect couple&ldots;"
"I wasn’t intending to try and split you guys up, cos I know you’ve been going out for years&ldots;"
"I totally understand, when Nicky came back from New Zealand a few months ago, I knew then that there was something different about him, a side of him, that I’ve never seen before was emerging&ldots;"
"Maybe he was amazed by what he saw, or what he experienced, culture wise&ldots;"
"Or maybe someone he had met, someone who he felt more connected with&ldots;"
"I didn’t think it would get this far, I wasn’t anticipating him remembering me, after the last time, but when he did, I was even more mixed up&ldots;"
"I was planning to come over by myself, then Gillian decided she wanted to come and see Shane. I didn’t really want to bring Gillian with me, cos I knew that Shane considered her a pain, more than a friend&ldots;"

"Don’t say a thing. I’m flying back tonight to Dublin, it’s not cos of you. I’m gonna tell Nicky, what I’ve told you as well, and that I guess that I should stand aside, and let you guys be more open about your true feelings&ldots;and let you become the couple you are meant to be"
"Georgina, I hope that you and Nicky remain friends, I’m not gonna act the jealous cow by preventing you and Nicky seeing each other, cos I know that you’re being dating for 8 years&ldots;"
"Maybe we could be friends one day, but for now Eilidh, lets take one day at a time&ldots;"
"I hope you have a nice flight back, and who knows maybe one day, I’ll be in Dublin..."
"I’m sure you’ll be welcome in Dublin, like I feel welcome in New Zealand,"
"Yeah, I better get back to work, it was so nice to meet you!"
"Okies, bye, and take good care of Nicky for me, though I know you will anyway&ldots;" Georgina said, as she walked out to the pool area..
"What was that about?" asked Jules, as I walked back to the bar&ldots;
"Nothing, nothing at all!!" I said, like I was floating on air&ldots;
"Eil, you seem very happy, so
I take it that she didn’t call you every name under the sun, and
slag you to pieces."
"Ah, no, she didn’t
which totally threw me, I was expecting swearing, slagging, and a
little physical contact, but in the end, it was normal&ldots;"
"So what did she say?"
"Well, she’s going back to Dublin tonight, and that she’s happy about me and Nicky seeing each other&ldots;"
"That’s so good," Jules said, giving me a friendly hug.
The rest of the afternoon went by in a flash, I didn’t noticed it, cos I was still on a high, from what Georgina said to me.
Then Gillian walked in,
"Eilidh, what on earth have you done?" she demanded,
"Excuse me?" I said, as those happy thoughts I was feeling, started disappearing!!!
"I’ve just seen Georgina, she told me that you guys had a chat&ldots;"
"And?"
"I can’t believe that she’s planning to give Nicky up, so you can date him&ldots;"
"Gillian, let me tell you that it does not concern you&ldots;"
"Georgina is my friend, and she’s right now talking to Nicky,"
"I know, she said she’d talk to Nicky&ldots;"
"I hope you’re happy now, that you’d split the most perfect couple up, and hope it haunts you for the rest of your life&ldots;"
"Gillian, would you shut up, as I said before, this is between me, Nicky and Georgina, and not you, so butt out of things you know nothing about&ldots;"
"I’m gonna tell Shane about this, he’ll side with me."
"Oh, I’m so scared of Shane," I said, laughing.
"He’ll sort Georgina and Nicky out&ldots;"
"Well, who gives a shit, what saintly Shane does, like he’ll do anything since you’re not anything more to him, than just a friend, oh wait not even that, a obsessed fan who stalks him&ldots; and anyway I don’t really care, now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got work to do&ldots;"
I walked off, leaving her standing there&ldots;
I went outside, and made sure that everyone was alright, and got more drink orders&ldots;
After about 5 minutes, I came back in, and saw Mark standing there, talking to Jules. What was this, annoy Eilidh day or something, who was next, Kian, Bryan, Saintly Shane&ldots;I was slowly getting annoyed&ldots;
"Hi Mark, what can I get you?" I said,
"I only came to see if how you were, Nicky and Georgina are out by the pool, having a massive discussion, Gillian seems to be sticking her nose in a few times," Mark said,
"Mark, I’m fine, I really am, I had a chat with Georgina before, and she was really nice about the whole thing. And Gillian came in before, saying that I was ruining a great couple or something&ldots;"
"I wondered where she went&ldots;"
"Yeah, I don’t see how this has just exploded into a big deal&ldots;"
"Neither do I, Nicky is probably thinking the same&ldots;"
"I don’t see what the big fuss is&ldots;"
"Neither, but some people like to interfere in business which never concerns them!"
"Yeah,"
"If I was you, I’d just ignore Gillian at the moment,"
"Thanks, you guys coming in tonight?"
"Yeah, you working?"
"Nope, but I’ll be in,
having a drink&ldots;"
"I’m sure Nicky will be
in, if you’re gonna be here&ldots;"
"Mark, are you scheming??"
"Me, Never&ldots;"
"Yeah, right, I don’t mind, accidentally bumping into Nicky here&ldots;"
"Yeah, I believe you had a meeting in the pool, last night"
"Don’t tell me, you saw us too&ldots;" I said, laughing.
"No, Nicky told me&ldots;"
"That’s good then&ldots;"
I said goodbye, and went to my apartment!
