Jamie, one of the other barmen was standing on the stage area.
"Welcome to Maurice’s&ldots;hopefully those eager to test those vocals, have picked up a Karaoke guide and are busy looking what song to serenade the crowd with&ldots; when you’ve chosen your song, come and register it, we’ll pick people randomly"
I was half-looking at the list, thinking will I or won’t I?
"Excuse me Girls, be back in a moment.."
I went to register, Kian was apparently registering all of the lads, I registered and went back.
"So Eil, what song ya singing?" said Fee.
"Not telling, but I believe all of westlife are doing Karaoke, so why don’t you guys have a go?"
"Well, thanks to all those who have registered their songs, we will randomly select people. First up tonight, singing the theme to the movie about a big boat, its Eilidh&ldots;"
I walked up, not looking in the direction of where Nicky was sitting. I don’t really know why I chose "My Heart will go on" Only Nicky and I would understand the relevance in regards to this song or the movie for that matter.
I gave it my best shot, trying not to look in Nicky’s direction, though I only glanced once, only to get him smiling at me as to say he knew the reason why I was singing this particular song.
"Thank you Eilidh! Wasn’t she brilliant," said Jules, who had taken over the MC, "Next up&ldots;"
I walked back to where the girls were sitting, they were all impressed by my performance. Fee whispered "Eil, I couldn’t help noticing that Nicky was watching you with great interest."
"Was He? Well, he can watch me anytime.." I said, getting up to go to the bar.
Jules was back behind the bar.
"Eilidh, What an amazing performance that was," Jules said, with a smile.
"Thanks Jules. I’ll have my usual, make it only a single." I said.
"Eilidh, can I have a word?" said a voice.
"Nicky? Sure!" I said.
"When you sang before, I had this really indescribable feeling, and when I realised the meaning of your song choice, I was touched."
"Nicky, I knew that this song, or perhaps the movie has some significance in our friendship."
"Yeah, I’ll never forget those moments."
"Well, I better get back to my mates. See ya!"
"Eil, are you and Nicky an item?" asked Fee, watching as I came back.
"Fee, what makes you think that? Are you forgetting Georgina!!!"
"I don’t know, just wondering that’s all!"
"Anyway, if Nicky really was in love with Georgina, I don’t think he’d be talking with me&ldots;"
"Yeah, true."
"Its truly weird, how friendly and open Nicky is, I mean he’s taken, but he likes to occasionally chat with girls, have a few drinks with them too..."
"I wish someone else would be like that!!"
"Why not go up to him and talk to him?"
"I would, but he’s seems occupied at the moment."
"If I was you, I’d go rescue him from her&ldots;Remember what she keeps on saying that she’ll do to him&ldots;"
"She’d kill me for even coming close, and she keeps giving me the evils as if to say ‘stay away’"
