Part 3
Shane locked up, making sure that everything was secure, and walked home, he could hear the music from Carly's. He said nothing, entering his home, and making him a hot drink before bed. He fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
He slept soundly for hours, only stirring when his alarm clock beeped. Shane couldn't get over the fact he'd had the best sleep in weeks. He made his way down to his kitchen, having his coffee and his breakfast.
He got ready for work, and for the first time in weeks, he felt good about going to work, he knew with some hard work, that it would be all good news for Filan's Fashions this coming year.
There was a slight breeze, but there was heat in the early morning sun, Shane made his way down to the shop, he could see people walking past Carly's.
He unlocked the doors, and picked up the mail.
He noticed a envelope, with a handwritten "Shane" on it. He knew of only one person who's handwriting looked like that, Gillian!!!
"I'd
be in trouble, if anyone knew that I'd done this, but I had to. I'm
going out of mind, working in Carly's. It's nothing compared to the
fun that I used to have when working in Filan's. I miss the endless
chatter, the laughter we shared, and those nights working late.
I
miss you so much Shane, my heart aches for you, and I keep it all in
my heart, but my aunt, and Kian are telling me stories about you that
are rubbish in my eyes. I didn't mean to hurt you, but now looking
back, I would hate if you had found someone new, and that you didn't
want to be friends any longer.
They
want me to see that you're nothing but a loser, a has-been and a
failure, but I see you as my true-love.
I'm
gonna tell them that I'm quitting and that I hope theres a job back
with you if the business has not gone down the drain.
Yours Forever
Gillian"
Shane hugged the letter to his chest. She loved him still, he longed to run down the road, and pick her up and twirl her about, and show the world, that they were in love.
Suddenly theres a tap at the door, and as he walks towards the door, he sees a unfamiliar face.
"Hi," she says, standing there.
"Can I help you?"
"Is this Filan Fashions?" she says, looking around.
"Yes, who may I ask are you?"
"Eilidh Calder, Charlotte said to meet her here today, but I'm early!"
"Oh, Charlotte didn't mentioned you, I'm Shane by the way, would you like a coffee, while you wait for her." Shane said, moving the letter away to the shelf!
"Sure, you've got a nice location here!" Eilidh says, sitting down at the table.
"So how do you know Charlotte?" Shane asks, sitting down.
"It's a real long story, she's my neighbour."
"You're not seeing a Mr Byrne by chance, or am I thinking way off"
"Oh lord, how did you guess? I'm Nicky's Girlfriend."
"You saying you're Charlotte's neighbour?"
"Look, I've been with Nicky since the split, let me tell you, he wasn't a happy boy, the day you made it quits, he would sit there silently, crying."
"I didn't think he'd take it so bad."
"God, he'd been hurt before by Georgina, but he took that on the chin, but the split, that knocked him for six!"
Shane saw a figure at the window, looking in.
"Would you excuse me?" Shane said, walking to the door.
"Sure"
Shane opened the door, and looked outside.
"Shane, hi!" Gillian said.
"Gill, come in out of the cold." Shane said.
"I don't wish to intrude on your cozy early morning coffee date."
"Look, Shane, I'm just gonna grab some ideas for the storage area, so I'll leave you alone. If Charlotte arrives, tell her I'm in there." Eilidh said, walking to the room off the main room.
Shane grabbed Gillian, pulling her into his arms.
"Shane&ldots;"
"Gillian&ldots;"
Shane had never felt this way about anyone before, and as he held her in his arms, he began to sing.
"Maybe its meant to be, but a love like ours shouldn't be denied. People can say what they want, but they don't see the love that we've got. The love that we've got"
"I don't know what to say, but theres time for loving, and a-hugging, and a-snogging and all the things that they said we couldn't do." Gillian sang back to him.
"You're one in a million, and now you're mine. Don't go wasting your time on has-beens they said, but you didn't listen."
"GILLIAN!!!" a loud male voice boomed, from the door.
"Cousin Kian, what on earth are you doing here?" Gillian said, startled.
"Just about to ask you the same thing, I cant believe you'd stand in the enemy's shop, and touch the enemy with that kind of passion. Obviously you've had too much freedom in your life, and that once I inform your parents about your behaviour, then I think they'd agree that sending you away will be the only reasonable solution."
"You cant do that Kian, if you had any senses then you'd hear her out, her and I are in love and I can't wait for the day when she says 'I do' to me and then we'd be married!" Shane said, standing tall.
"Oh please, Shane, you've got a dwindling business, and its only time before theres drama on the street."
"Goodness, talk about drama, that Café on fire, theres smoke pouring out of it" Charlotte said, walking into the store.
"Jaysus, Gillian, you're to come with me, say that you were with me, when I opened up. I'm begging you, please!!!!" Kian was on his knees begging.
'Kian, I wonder where you'd gone to," Gillian's mam said, walking up with Kian's mam.
"Mam, Aunty Elise, I cant explain, I'd seen Gillian walk off up the street, and come here, so I went after her."
"And you forgot that you'd stuck the grills on, and forgot to check if anything was on them, like tea-towels.'
"Go
back down Kian, and take your mother, I want some time alone with my daughter!"
