Just The Two of Us

"Hello?," I said, thinking what has happened.

"Hi Eilidh, its Ro! Nicky hasn’t told you anything has he?"

"um, nope, why?" I asked.

" it’s just that Stephen and Eloy heard some good news today, and are having a small celebration, and since you have been such a great friend of theirs; they wanted you and Nicky to come down and be apart of this.." Ronan replied.

"cool, we’ll be there soon!" I replied, hanging up the phone.

As we drove down to Wicklow, it was a beautiful day, and the countryside look so beautiful as it always did.

We arrived in Wicklow, and making our way towards Stephen’s house, when I noticed a few cars parked outside the house.. so we parked the car, and made our way to the door, most of the people outside the grounds were photographers who, when spotting us, took loads of pictures as we knocked on the door.

We were greeted by Eloy, who gave me a hug and quick peck on the cheek.

"Glad, you two could make it.!"

then Stephen came up and I gave him a hug!

Stephen handed me and Nicky a glass of champagne and then we went into the lounge area, where Steve’s and Eloy’s Families were, and most of Boyzone and their Wives and kids, only missing was Shane who was rally-driving in America, and couldn’t make the party.

I went up to Ronan, who was trying to keep an eye on Jack, as Yvonne wasn’t there due to an serious family illness! So I said to Ronan, that I didn’t mind keeping an eye on Jack, if he wanted to mingle or whatever!

Just then Stephen made the big announcement&ldots;.

"I would firstly like to thank you all for coming&ldots;.you all probably wondering why we asked you here, so I tell you why? As you know, Eloy and I are wanting a child, and well we have found a surrogate mother and it’s been 2 months, and everything is going well &ldots;and here she is&ldots;." A woman walked in, and she was starting to show..

I was a bit shocked, when she walked in, but not as shocked as she was, when she spotted me, I walked over to her, and gave her a hug.

"Hiya, and congratulations to you&ldots;" I said after the hug.

" oh my god, I don’t believe this, what are you doing here?" asked Tania,

"Ronan rang me at Nicky’s and told us to come down, for a celebration&ldots;" I replied, still coming to terms that Tania, was probably living out her dream to be kind of connected with Stephen.

"Oh, that’s great, Stephen talks about how you and Nicky are so perfect together.. he reckons that there could be bells in the air&ldots;" Tania said, as she found a seat to rest on.

Later, after the party had finished, and Nicky and I were on our way back to Dublin, to our apartment, Nicky stopped the car at our favourite spot, which was just on the outskirts of Dublin!

"Eilidh, even since the first day we chatted on the net, that time with Ki and Bry, I’ve felt things that I had never felt before. And then when we were chatting alone, those feelings got stronger and stronger, and when I surprised you with a visit, a few days ago, it kind of confirmed what I already knew and I knew that you felt these things too! so, what I’m trying to say is that I wanna spend the rest of my life with you, so would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?" Nicky said, the last bit on bended knee!

"Yes, I would be honoured to be your wife!" I replied, jumping into his arms and giving him the biggest and longest kiss ever&ldots;

We rang Nicky’s parents to tell them that we were taking them, Adam and Gillian out for Dinner at Le Regent for a treat.

Nicky booked the table and it was there we were gonna break the news&ldots;

We were the first to arrive at the restaurant, so we sat down at the table, completely unsure on how they would take it.

Then they arrived, and we all greeted each other briefly and we all sat down and studied the menu&ldots;

The wine waiter arrived, and Nicky asked for a bottle of the best champagne, which made Nicky’s parents looked surprised at each other.

When we had all ordered our meals, and the champagne poured, Nicky stood up, with his glass. I could see that he was a little nervous.

"Mum, Dad, Adam and Gill, the reason why we invited you here, is that about 5 hours ago, I asked Eilidh to marry me, and she said yes!" said Nicky, and then sat back down.

There was a brief silence, but then Nikki stood up, " well, what can I say, but congratulations to you both, it seems like only yesterday, that your mother brought you home from the hospital to me and Gillian waiting for you&ldots;, now you’re all grown-up and found the girl who makes you happy, and soon you will have your own family&ldots;.." and sat back down, trying not to cry.

"Dad, thank you for that, you and Mam have been with me, through the good times, and the bad times, and even the scary times like when I was 6, and had the croup.. you were there, always. I always thought of you, when I was away with Homefarm playing football, and when I got dropped from the team, you helped me get over that. I love you both for everything you’ve done for me&ldots;sorry!" Nicky broke into tears, I put my arm around him.

After coffee and dessert, we all said our good-byes and all headed off home.

When me and Nicky arrived at his Dublin Apartment, there was a bit of media hanging around, and when we got out of the car, they were all trying to take pictures and ask questions, we said nothing, and got quickly into the flat&ldots;

Nicky had arranged for us to be on one of the early morning breakfast shows in a few weeks time, to announce to the world, which mean a early-morning flight to the UK that day. On the eve of the big announcement dawned, we both knew that some of the fans might know already, so I logged on to the internet to check what mail I had. I had 100 new messages, and majority were Westlife-related ones, most of these were from Irish fans. I sat there, trying to think what to do, so I quickly created a new yahoo addy "Eil&NixByrne" and wrote to all the mailing lists that I was on, saying, "the rumours are true, yip I am marrying Nicky&ldots; could you send messages to "Eil&NixByrne" and not bz_crazy21.. a big thank you for those who already have sent messages of support. We are grateful for these!"

The next morning we woke and got to the airport to catch the plane, and as we landed at Heathrow to a lovely sunny day, we got copies of the tabloids to read on the journey, surprising we were on all of them, and the headlines stating the unexpected engagement of Nicky Byrne and his girlfriend Eilidh Calder, in their own way&ldots;&ldots;.

When we arrived at the tv studios, there were quite a few well-wishers outside, with cards and messages of support!

As we waited to go on the show, Stephen, Eloy and Tania were also due to be on the show, talking about Steve’s new single "I’m all yours", the birth of their child, and other stuff. We all greeted each other, Steve came up to me, and said "Gee, It’s seems only like last week, when I told Eloy and Tan, that you two would get married" in fact it was only last week!

" T’anks Steve, I know Tania mentioned it about 3 hours before Nicky proposed to me, and it didn’t seem real!" I said, giving him a hug.

The show was about to start, and we were first on, and we were both nervous, as we didn’t know what way it would go&ldots;but thankfully it went alright.

"Good morning and welcome to SM:TV, on today’s show, later is Stephen Gately who will be singing his new song, a song called "I’m all yours" , and talking about his new dream, being a dad, we will also met the lucky woman who is carrying it for them, and also Eloy is here too. But our special guests for the whole show.. you may have read in this morning tabloids about their engagements, well here to tell us if its true or just a pack of lies, Nicky and Eilidh.. welcome, once again to SM:TV" said Cat.

"Thank you Cat, yes the rumours are true, I am getting married to Eilidh" replied Nicky.

"So have you guys set the date yet? Asked Ant, aiming his question at me.

"um not yet, we are still talking about it, hopefully in about 6-8 months hopefully.." I replied with a happy grin.

"Is it gonna be like a ‘Posh and Becks’ wedding?" asked Dec

" um, well, no I don’t think that we would go that overboard with our wedding," I replied, "but we haven’t really discussed any wedding plans yet!"

"ok, you two are here for the whole show, you’ll be on the e-mail answering questions, and taking messages, so log on to "www.cd-uk.co.uk/chat/" to chat with the happy pair.. but now it’s time for Splatoon, and I believe it’s Nicky and Stephen, that will be playing for some lucky callers&ldots;"

"ok, we are back, talking with Nicky and Eilidh, and we are taking a few e-mails and phone calls. Ok, this one is from smiley_chick who is watching this show via our web-page all the way in New Zealand, she wants to know, where are you getting married? Ireland or New Zealand?" asked Dec.

"ok, firstly hiya Fee! As Eilidh said before, we haven’t really talked about the wedding, I mean it could be either those places as well, but nothing is finalised yet!," says Nicky.

"ok, we have a caller from Bristol, Hello Lucy." Says Cat.

"Hello, my question is, what does Ronan and Louis think about this, as it’s not even 5 years since you did your ‘gentleman’s agreement’?" says the caller.

"um, well, Ronan knew all about it even before I asked Eilidh, so he hasn’t a problem with it, when I told Louis, that I was engaged, he wasn’t very happy, but Ronan stepped in and told him, that this will not do anything to the band, or the success of the band!" replied Nicky, holding my hand, and squeezing it..

"well, that’s all the time we have today, a big thank-you for our guests Nicky and Eilidh, and also Steve, Eloy and Tania, good luck for you three! Hope it all goes well!, and a big Hello to the CD:UK audience&ldots;.blah, blah, blah," said Dec as he rattled off who’s on the show!

It’s been a few months since we announced our engagement, and the wedding plans are slowly coming along, the date is set for the 7^th August 2001, and hopefully everything goes well, as Tania is due a couple of weeks after this, and fingers crossed that the baby holds on.

We are marrying in Dublin, in a small church, we sat down and worked out who we wanted to be there. Our families were the ones we definitely wanted.. my mum, and sisters and brother with their partners were all coming, they had all met Nicky, when we flew over to New Zealand for a visit, which was quite lovely, as Mum arranged a family party to welcome Nicky into the family, I was a bit nervous, but it turned out to be alright, then we flew up to Auckland en route for Dublin, and met up with most of my friends, and we had a bit of a party, which was lovely as most of them couldn’t get time off to come to the wedding! But Jo, Kelly, and Fee were all coming to the wedding as they were gonna also visit Tania as well. And stay for the birth.

Ok, so it’s the BIG day, and Tania is still pregnant, she will be coming along with Eloy, and Steve. Jo and Kelly are travelling with them, I think! Actually I think Jo is, not sure with Kelly, I heard something about her and Mark, so she may be coming with him.

We kept the wedding simple, I was given away by Ronan, who gave me away on behalf of my family, and Shane was Nicky’s best man, and my bride-maid was Fee, who was quite excited about this!

The wedding went well, the whole day went okay, until the reception and during the speeches done by Shane, do we heard this quiet voice.

"um Steve, Eloy, I hate to ruin a perfect day, but I think the baby wants to join the party!" whispered Tania, holding her stomach..

"oh my god, lets get you to the hospital, sorry Nix and Eil, for this, we will ring Ronan, when we get the news alright?" replied Steve, as him and Eloy helped Tania out into their car, and they drove off..

The party continued into the small wee hours, at 12.34am, Ronan’s mobile rang, everything stopped, the dancing, the music,

"Hello, Ronan, It’s Steve, here" replied a v happy Stephen.

"Steve, what’s the news?" asked Ronan, mouthing to us all that it was Steve.

"well, It’s Twins!!! Both Boys, both doing really well, and Tania is tired, but alright." Replied Steve.

"look, you are probably wanting to get back to them!, so I’ll tell everyone here" said Ronan.

Ronan cleared his throat, and says "Well, that was Steve, and him and Eloy are the proud parents of not one child, but twins!! They are all doing well!!, so raise those glasses for Steve, Eloy, Tania, and the babies!

Epilogue:

It’s now 4 months since we got married, and a lot of exciting stuff has been happening, well, I’m 3 months pregnant and we are both over the moon! Steve’s and Eloy’s children, David and Patrick are so cute, and David looks like Steve, whereas Patrick takes after Tania. Tania lives with them, and travels with them and the babies!

Westlife are #1 this week( their 10 #1!!) with a rather dancey tune "Let me into your life" sung by Shane and Mark, with a very exciting dance routine, and the video features snow, snowballs and snowmen!!
