Eilidh's POV

“Promise me, that you’ll stay, and that you’ll never let me go!”he said.
I walked out of the room, I started crying. I found a seat and sat down…
“Excuse me, you okay?” said a voice.
“No, “ I replied, staring into his blue eyes.
“Do you want to talk about it? I’m Mark btw!” He said, sitting down.
“Not really, I’m Eilidh!” I say.
“Gillian told me who you were, and why you’re here, I think you’ve got courage to do this…”
“Do I?”
“Yeah, I don’t know if I could fly across the world to visit a virtual stranger!”
“Yeah, I don’t know what ever possessed me to do this…”
“I think it’s a inner thing, something inside told you to do it, I think you and Nicky have a inner connection…”
“really? Gill mentioned that too….”

“Someone come quickly, he’s going again…” Shane screamed out the door.
I closed my eyes, and concentrated….
‘Nicky, are you there?’
‘Yeah, I am!’
‘what are you doing?’
‘I don’t know, I’m drifting around, unsure where to go!’
‘why did you leave us?’
‘I don’t know, I just couldn’t feel my legs, and then I felt like I was falling…’
‘Nicky, come back to us, please, not just for the band, but for your family…’
Silence….
‘Nicky, No…………….’
I snapped back into reality, and walked into Nicky’s room.
Everyone was around him, holding hands, saying prayers…
I walked to the window, I looked out, at the busy street, the cars going passed… the sun was out, there were people walking along the road…
I opened the window.
I turned around, and everyone had gone…
Nicky was lying there, facing me, with his eyes wide open.
“Nicky, where did they go?”
“who?”
“the lads, your family?”
“I don’t know, only you were here, when I opened my eyes…”
“Strange, “
“Come to me,”
I walk towards him, I sit down on the bed, next to him.
“Am I not interrupting anything?” said a voice.
“Nope,” I said, realising I was sitting on an empty bed.
“You okay?”
“Nicky’s dead isn’t he?”
“Yeah, he passed away about ½ hour ago…”
“Weird, It was as though he was just here before, lying in this bed…but now all the traces of him are gone, like magic.”
“Maybe you do have some kind of gift,”
“Excuse me, oh you mean like a psychic gift that can communicate with spirits that have passed over..”
“Yeah, I was talking to Gill before, she was telling me the whole story how you and her met, via Nicky’s spirit…”
“Georgina, I’m really sorry, about his death…”
“Don’t be…At least Eilidh, you got to see him before he died, he would have loved that. He told me only moments before that he thought you were the one for him, and that your letter was a sign that you were meant for him…he had this feeling, about your letter before he opened it. A feeling like he had never experienced before. I was very pleased for him, though I knew we were growing apart.”
“Georgina, when I wrote that letter, I wasn’t anticipating what has now happened. I don’t hold any regrets by sending this letter…I wasn’t either expecting a reply, but things work in strange ways…”
“Let’s get out of this room, it’s freaking me out.”
“Have you not deal with dead people before..”
“No.”
“There’s nothing freaky about it. I mean if you saw Nicky now, it’s not really Nicky…” I said, as we walked out in to the day room, where Nicky’s family was, “it’s only a shell, Nicky’s up there in heaven.”
“I don’t know about the funeral. It’s gonna be very weird.”
“Everyone deals with death in their own way…”

68 years later….. (Nicky's POV)

The moment had arrived, I stood there at the end of her bed, watching her breathing slow breaths. I saw her surrounded by her children, her sons Alan and Nicholas, with their wives and their children, and their grandchildren. I also saw a pic of her late husband, Mark. So she did marry him in the end.

“Eilidh, it’s time…” I whispered slowly.
“Nicky, is that you? “ she said, in a raspy voice.
“Yes, my sweet lass. Its time to join me and Mark up here in heaven. You’ve done what you need to do while on earth.”
“Nicky, I’m coming………”
